Understanding, mapping and evaluating risks at the strategic, operational and tactical levels for human-made threats and natural disasters allows leaders to effectively and confidentially prepare for and prevent, respond to and manage, and transition and recover from a crisis situation. This is increasingly important for both security and risk professionals, as well as critically for non-security professionals acting as field Security Focal Points and department or locational Business Continuity Representatives. RSM is the only organization which provides easy to access online Institute of Leadership Management [ILM] certifications for risk leadership, as well as 23 HRCI and SHRM credits. Mini-Brief Program

This micro-learning program of 40+ modules provides 10-20 minute learning opportunities in 10+ languages on key areas of safety and security. The topics range from human-made threats to natural risks. Organizations can select 1 new language each year and can also request 2 universally useful topics to be created based against common needs annually. Every new language and module selected by other organizations will also be offered at no cost.

Family Liaison during a Crisis [ILM, SHRM and HRCI Certified]

For the majority of crisis events, people are involved, and this places staff and family liaison at the heart of managing a crisis event. A failure to understand how to protect the interests of staff, their families, but also critically the wider interests of the organization can make a significant difference from both the practical and perceived management of a crisis event. This course provides 4hrs of learning within 5 mandatory courses culminating in an ILM award, and up to 10hrs of learning [with individual certifications] in 11 elective courses. RSM is the only organization permitted to provide internationally certified Institute of Leadership Management [ILM] online certifications for family liaison management, with an accompanying 14 HRCI and SHRM credits. Fleet Management and Safe Driver Program [SHRM and HRCI Certified]

Transport and movement is a common part of any organizational requirements, and arguably presents the greatest exposure to risk. The ability to understand, establish and maintain an effective fleet management system to ensure effective travel risk management processes, vehicle maintenance and management systems, and a safe driver instructor training program – with supporting safe driver skills and standards – is vitally important. Fraud and corruption can occur anywhere, and to any organization. In some environments the risks and implications of fraud investigations increases, and poor ethical behavior is rife. Chief of Party or Country Directors Risk and Resilience Leadership Program [SHRM and HRCI Certified]

Chiefs of Party or Country Directors are the ultimate risk owners for field operations. Their role is pivotal in terms of identifying, evaluating and addressing humanmade threats and natural disasters, building the risk management and business continuity standards and practices needed to control risks for their operating area and activities, and in leading the immediate and long-term response to risks which threaten people, operations, facilities, assets and information; and critically, in protecting the wider business interests and reputation of their organization.  These senior leaders also direct security professionals or focal points in the day to day management of security and safety activities, and so need to have a strong basis of understanding of security risk management. Crisis Management Leadership Team Program [SHRM and HRCI Certified]

The senior leadership team either directs or guides the response to, and management of, serious incidents. The ability to react to unique, fast moving and high-impact crisis events, often with little to no warning, requires leaders to quickly gasp critical – and often unique and unfamiliar – considerations when dealing with a single or multiple faceted crisis under time pressures. A misstep by the leadership team can have devastating impacts upon the people involved, as well as the wider business and reputational interests of the organization – as such decisions must be made quickly – and they must be correct every time! This program provides micro-learning opportunities for leaders [within the home office and field] to gain critical knowledge before a crisis occurs; or to access specific to crisis knowledge as a threat emerges, or a crisis unfolds. The program includes foundational information on common best practice for approaching crisis situations, activating the leadership team and focusing on key priorities. Program Management Risk Leadership Program [SHRM and HRCI Certified]

Program management plays a critical role in identifying and addressing a wide range of safety and security risks their staff and program goals and activities face when implementing both short-term and long-term activities internationally. Instructional skills are developed and refined through the application of proven learning methodologies and systems, and refined through experience and practice. Trip Team Leader Program [SHRM and HRCI Certified]

Small and short-term deployed teams face risks when working abroad, and often no appointed or trained lead on safety and security is defined to manage risks and respond to an emergency situation. Developing the knowledge and skills by which to plan for and manage risks as a team, and respond to an emergency effectively – while acting as the bridge between the point of the incident and the headquarters team can be critically important. This course provides 2hrs of learning within 3 mandatory courses and up to 2hrs of learning within 2 elective courses with 4 HRCI and SHRM credits. The program can be taken at the participant’s pace, and it is provided in various languages.

Remote Medical Casualty Stabilization Program [SHRM and HRCI Certified]

The ability to offer first aid support to sick or injured individuals, especially in a remote region distanced from medical support, or where a crisis has occurred and medical first responders are unable to provide immediate support, can make the difference between a life and death situation. This training provides casualty stabilization awareness training to enable managers and staff to understand the simple techniques by which to stabilize causalities until professional medical help arrives; even when first aid assets and equipment may not be available. This first aid training course helps organizations develop internal capacity, allowing staff to assess the status of a casualty and provide life stabilizing treatment. During crisis events where multiple causalities may occur this training also looks at casualty prioritization. The course covers: An Introduction to First Aid and Casualty Stabilization Bleeding and Blood Loss Management Burn Injuries Breaks and Fractures CPR Casualty Management Mass Casualty Situations and TRIAGE Environmental Hazards (Hot and Cold Weather Injuries) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This course is designed to meet the needs of standard first aid training, but uniquely, to also address the requirements of casualty stabilization in remote locations far from medical support. RSM has developed a module specifically on PTSD awareness to help staff and family members understand the signs, symptoms and self-help measures which can be used following traumatic events, and measures that can practically be taken to minimize the risk of developing PTSD where staff know they are traveling to areas that may present significant emotional challenge.
