BCM for Improved Organizational Resilience

ISO 22301 is the international standard setting out the requirements of a fully integrated and coherent organizational approach to the design, development, implementation and maintenance of business continuity measures (the Business Continuity Management System – BCMS). BCMS’ are designed to create fundamental resilience, and enable an organization to recover quickly and efficiently from a disruptive incident.

The RSM Approach

RSM combines our Certified ISO 22301 Lead Auditor knowledge and skills with sophisticated policy development skills to quickly and effectively build robust and effective management structures, documents, processes and associated training materials. We draw upon world experts, published authors, academics and advisors with direct experience in preparing for, and responding to, complex crisis and disaster issues, domestically and abroad.

RSM designs and develops the policies, plans and protocols that formalizes, activates and documents the BCMS. Our team assists organizations with establishing the management structures and internal champions needed to own and implement business resiliency measures, as well as designing the awareness and competency programs needed to ensure the BCMS is capable of being implemented on an on-going basis – ranging from training and exercising that may be mandated by external regulatory bodies and standards, through to elective or just in time awareness and competency programs.

To ensure the BCMS stays relevant, RSM will also build the monitoring and performance management approach, and develop the resourcing rationale, based on prioritization of risks to business continuity.

RSM are expert in developing the specific guidance and documented plans and procedures that will govern organizational preparedness and response to a wide range of critical incidents or crisis events, ranging from cross-cutting themes such as stakeholder management and engagement, crisis communications and media management, and an organization’s approach to handling mass casualty events, through to subject-specific plans ranging from ICT disaster recovery, active shooter and armed aggressor attacks, supply chain disruption, kidnap and ransom, and a host of specialized subject areas driven by the organization’s context. Examples of these include environmental spills and releases, confined space and high angle rescue, to death threats and intimidation.

Facility and Program Resiliency, operationalized through capacity Building Programs

We also build business continuity plans for an organization’s facilities and programs, addressing the need to build resilience and empower business continuity champions at the local level, in a way that integrates coherently with the strategic-level BCMS and organizational policy and plans.

We take organizations from the risk assessment and gap analysis stage, through to designing management structures, documents, processes, the identification, preparation and qualification of the BCMS champions (including ILM Level 6 qualifications), to creating both instructor-led and interactive, highly engaging online supportive training and testing.
